Welcome to the Blue Ridge Cowboy Church in Fletcher, NC. One of the most exciting churches anywhere. If you like the cowboy culture, you'll love
the cowboy church! You don't have to be a cowboy to attend. Most people who come to cowboy church don't even own a horse. They tell me they
come because they like the relaxed atmosphere where they can be themselves, whether they have a Harley, or a horse, wear boots or suits, are
divorced or married, it just doesn't matter. It is a place you can feel welcome and right at home. Most folks who check us out end up staying. So
come on down, check out the Blue Ridge Cowboy  Church, we believe you'll end up staying too! Every Tuesday evening at 7PM, at the WNC Ag
Center  828-273-9635 or go to

5-7 - Horse Protection Officers' Short Course at the NCSU Equine Eduction Unit in Raleigh, NC
http://
www.nchorsecouncil.com/educational-courses/
7- Kings Mountain National Military Park is gathering comments and suggestions  from individuals and organizations that will help decide the
future management of Kings Mt. National Park.  They will have two open house meetings to obtain comments and suggestions:  Tuesday, May 6 -
3:00 to 7:00 at Kings Mt. City Hall  864-936-7921 and Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at York Electric Cooperative in York SC 864-936-7921

Unfortunately I will be out of town and cannot attend either meeting, but there is an internet address where you can express yourself. I can also
mail you a form if you need it. Please help get this out to our equestrian friends so they can show their support for continuing equestrian trails and
expanding multi-use trails. Horses were at both Cowpens National Battlefield, and Kings Mt. National Military Park and were certainly part of the
Overmountain National Historic Trail.  It would be a shame to lose their historic place in these parks and trails.

Trails are becoming more and more limited as more land is developed. It is up to us to speak up, express our interest and support. I know this is
rather a long address, but please help spread the word and take the time. There are only four questions so it won't take long: 1. What do you
think is important about Kings Mountain National Military Park?

2.What changes would you like to see in the future? 3.  Do you have any concerns about this planning process? and 4. Other comments?

Some ideas to use: 1. The importance is the  turning point in the Revolutionary War and that a group of volunteers because of their determination
and fortitude were able to defeat one of the strongest military forces existing at that time.  Horses were a vital part of the historic scene at Kings
Mt., Cowpens, and Overmountain National Historic Trail. In riding the trails, you have a real sense of stepping back in time and get a feeling of
what it would have been like during this period of history. Horses also enable people who are physically unable to hike that distance to experience
the trails.  Would like to see their role recognized in displays.

2. Improve and expand multi-use trails. Clearly mark trails. Hitching posts along the trail so that the environment is protected. Connection with the
Overmountain National Historic Trail & have the trail be multi-use.

3. Concern that  equestrian use might be eliminated. Further encroachment of development surrounding the park that could detract from its
beauty and historic significance.

4. Truly appreciate the beauty of this wonderful park. Include designated area for families to rest and have lunch. Include the Houser House as
part of the park experience. Encourage children to experience the park so that they will continue to value it.
